Law 47 of 2021 increased the hourly wage in Puerto Rico from $7.25 to $10.50 in a staggered manner. The first two adjustments took effect in 2022 and 2023, but the third increase, to $10.50 per hour, is now pending a court decision. (tonito.zayas@gfmedia.com)

On Saturday night, June 29, six business associations filed a writ of mandamus in the Court of First Instance of San Juan to stop the implementation of the new minimum hourly wage that should go into effect tomorrow, Monday, July 1.
