Director and screenwriter Ti West is clearly convinced that horror, art and exploitation can coexist on the big screen. What is not entirely clear is whether the viewer is supposed to take seriously what he or she is seeing in “Maxxine,” a feature film that arrived in theaters and completes the horror trilogy West has created with the direct and indirect connections between “X” and “Pearl.”
