Washington D.C. - As President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, who died Sunday at the age of 100, recognized that resolving Puerto Rico’s political future was an unfinished business to which the federal government should commit itself and, shortly thereafter, made the decision to commute the sentences of five Puerto Rican nationalists.
