For a decade, the Puerto Rico government lost more than $4.2 million in public funds due to property lost or handled in an “irregular” manner by 81 official entities that, nevertheless, did not complete the notification process required to be able to adjudicate responsibility and have those acts or omissions have consequences, according to data from the Comptroller’s Office.
