Martin Luther King Jr. appeared at the UPR Theater, Rio Piedras Campus, 18 months before his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington D. C.

Since the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) Theater opened in 1939, it has welcomed historically important people in diverse fields, arts, academics, and social action. However, not many know that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made a public appearance at the UPR´s “Aula Magna”, 18 months before his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington D.C.
