When he was just a child, Modesto Lacén’s parents took him to UA Cinemas 150 in Laguna Gardens, where they watched the drama Places in the Heart, starring Sally Field and Danny Glover. It was the first time Lacén saw a Black actor on screen—an experience that sparked a fire in him, one that continues to burn brighter than ever today.
