With a salary of $1,818 a month, Cadet Génesis Figueroa García began working at the Police Bureau at the end of January, an agency that, since the beginning of the century, has faced a consistent drop in its active officers, mainly attributed to salary conditions and the flight of personnel, the latter aggravated by the intense recruitment of U.S. units, which offer more than double the compensation.
