In just 10 days, the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) will begin a new chapter in its eight-decade history, leaving behind the responsibility of producing nearly 70 percent of the energy consumed by the island. However, the public utility will continue to operate hydroelectric plants and irrigation systems, as well as certain administrative functions, for which it will have 255 employees, as decided by its Governing Board on June 9.
