Enrique Torres Turrell considers the decentralization of education to be a complex task, but one that is necessary to ensure that schools have the resources they need. (Suministrada)

Enrique Torres Turrell began his career in the Department of Education as the first first grade teacher at the Ramón Emeterio Betances School in Ponce 29 years ago. When he arrived at the school, the school principal at the time even offered him another position, surprised that a man would accept the position to educate the youngest children, a position that even today is typically occupied by women.
