The Popular Democratic Party (PPD) of Puerto Rico, founded in 1938, was founded as a response to the crisis and need that suffocated the Puerto Rican people. In its first decades, under the leadership of figures such as Luis Muñoz Marín and later with Rafael Hernández Colón, the collectivity identified deeply with the aspirations of the people.
