Puerto Rico is at an important turning point in the transformation of our energy system. After decades of neglecting the infrastructure of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), the accumulation of more than $9 billion in debt, and an inefficient, unstable, and outdated grid, its viability collapsed with Hurricane María and the new vision of modernization currently underway began to take shape.
