prima:EPA imposes sanctions on Puerto Rico for failure to submit air quality compliance plan

Starting today, the permits that the DRNA must issue in the nonattainment areas of San Juan and Guayama-Salinas will be more restrictive and, therefore, more costly.

The U.S. government has imposed fines on Puerto Rico for failing to submit a plan to comply with air quality standards for sulfur dioxide. The federal government has also warned that penalties will intensify if the document is not submitted and approved on or before December 3.
